Our Mission
By making a donation today, you will be directly contributing to the mission of Dawn's clinic in helping provide total animal care for pets across Costa Rica. We want to ensure the progress we have made will live beyond our stay in Costa Rica and fill a genuine need. Here are some of our specific goals for 2007-08:

• provide low cost or no cost spay/neuter surgery, parasite control, and general medical care for the cats and dogs of the villages of western Guanacaste province of Costa Rica
• take veterinarian services directly to the villages through hiring a full time veterinarian to take over the work presently performed by visiting vets from San Jose and volunteers
• provide hands on education on proper handling of a pet, removing parasites, encourage proper feeding and make available low cost dog food and parasite control products.

What Your Money Go Towards

Initially, Dawn's clinic was seldomly paid for the services provided, and we subsidized from donations, volunteers and our own pockets. But since the demand has increased, we try to require that 85% of spay/neuters and about half of the worm medicine and flea and tick treatments. Pfizer has been very generous donating worm pills and antibiotics. Although our mission will continue to be to provide low cost and no cost services, we do not know whether Pfizer will continue their gifts when a paid veterinarian is trying to grow a sustaining business. We have formed the foundation for a veterinarian practice but it will take time to function without subsidy. And there will always be those that just cannot afford to pay and they will receive help paying for their pet’s care.

Your donation will help us preserve "total animal care" as our overall mission. Contributions will go directly to spay/neutering services, medication, and helping expand and sustain our practice.
